Barbara J. Hoppe has taught at Pine Island Schools since 1996. She currently teaches the band instrument ensembles for grades 5-12. She directs several extra-curricular groups: jazz bands, pep band, Music Listening Contest, and the school musical pit orchestra.

Originating from Albany, Minnesota, Ms. Hoppe received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota. Prior to teaching in Pine Island, she taught K-12 music in the Rainy River-South Koochiching School District in Indus, Minnesota.

Ms. Hoppe continues to further her education by attending workshops, conferences, and other courses. She is or has been a member of National Association for Music Education (NAfME) / Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA), Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA), Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE), Women Band Directors International (WBDI), and Minnesota High School Music Listening Contest Board (MLC, various officer positions).
