Pyramid Model

The pyramid model supports social emotional competence in young children . Because we have adopted this model as an Early Childhood program, all of our staff understand the importance of having positive and nurturing relationships with children, families and team members. In our classrooms we strive for high quality environments with inclusive early care and supportive home environments. 
  • We believe that building positive relationships with children has a positive influence of a child’s behavior and can help children develop positive self-concept, confidence, and a sense of safety. We will focus on helping children develop emotional literacy skills such as, identifying feelings in self and others and act upon feelings in appropriate ways, learning friendship skills include sharing and turn taking, requesting and  receiving help, giving compliments, and dealing effectively with common peer problems such as  teasing or bullying.
  • When children have a persistent challenging behavior that is not responsive to interventions at the previous levels, comprehensive interventions are developed to resolve problem behavior and support the development of  new skills. Those interventions will be based on positive behavior support where the team will identify and develop steps to replace the challenging behaviors with new ones.
 
The technical assistance center on social emotional intervention for young children (TACSEI)/The Pyramid Model takes the research that shows which practices improve the social-emotional outcomes for young children with, or at risk for, delays or disabilities and creates free
