Announcements for May 4:

*Softball Game May 3rd Results

The Lady Panthers faced Rochester Lourdes and captured another victory. In the first inning, Madisyn “Mad Dash” Collins walked, stole second, and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Bella “The Bruiser” put the ball in play to plate Collins for the first Panther run. In the 2nd and 3rd innings, the Panthers scored 4 and 2 runs respectively and Emma “Grandmaster” Grobe put down a textbook bunt that helped to score both Cheyenne “In the Zone” Jones and Shaelyn “Powerhouse” Predmore. But then, the bats went cold and the Eagles circled the bases for two of their own runs in the 3rd. In the top of the 6th, Lauren “Freight Train” Pokrandt had a timely base hit to open up a 6 run inning. Bella Mehrkens and Madisyn Collins combined on 14 strikeouts, with one walk, and 4 hits.

* Congratulations to the 7th grade Stock Market team of Ryan Week and Will Taylor who just won the State Middle School Championship for investing. They earned over $72,000 in the 3 month game. Even though they did not compete in the high school division, they would have finished 2nd among the 1,250 teams there.

The top stock in their portfolio was Game Stop where careful, but quick decision making propelled them to the top. Other companies they had were Apple, Facebook, Target and Verizon.

In 2021 the Pine Island Middle School had 10 of the top 20 teams in the Middle School division. Pine Island students have successfully competed in this competition for over 20 years! Charles Schwab Investment Foundation was the sponsor this year of the statewide competition.

School Day
In order to make transportation work with new restrictions, the 5-12 school day has been adjusted. Class starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:15pm. We also have to limit extra traffic in the building. To limit this traffic the doors will open at 8:30am and students will need to leave the building no later than 3:30pm. The doors will then remain locked for the evening. Students are not allowed in the building before 8:30am or after 3:30pm.

All students (grades K-12) and staff will be required to wear a mask (Executive Order 20-81).  The Pine Island District will supply one mask to each student enrolled in the Hybrid Model.

To check attendance and final course grades, you will need to know your Skyward login. Skyward will also be used to schedule conferences this year and view your student’s homeroom teacher and course schedule. You can find the link to Skyward at the bottom of the school district website.
