Teacher Bios

Ms. Catherine Eayrs

I have been teaching first grade for eighteen years of my extensive career in education. I'm a graduate of the U of MN--Minneapolis with BS and MA degrees in elementary education with an English minor. I enjoy working at Pine Island Schools and I think it is an awesome school district! I have previously worked in both public and private schools. One highlight of my career was teaching second grade at the International School of Berne where I enjoyed living in Switzerland and traveling around Europe for three years. I am also a published author and have done a variety of projects in children's literature and local history.

I grew up on a farm west of Pine Island in the Berne (West Concord) area. My daughter, Annemarie, attended Pine Island Schools for twelve years, is a graduate from Carleton College, and now works in publishing. My favorite things include spending time with family and friends, hanging out with my pets, reading, hiking, baking, and doing activities in the fine arts.

I'm Mrs. Holcomb!  This is my fifth year teaching first grade at Pine Island.  Before that I taught first grade in Rochester for 15 years.  I grew up in Delafield, Wisconsin (yes, true PACKER fan!); I graduated from Winona State University with a Bachelor Degree and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.

I live in Rochester with my husband, Donny, and our two boys: Cayden (15), and Carter (13). They are very active and keep us busy cheering them on in football, basketball, baseball and track! We have a 1 year old Goldendoodle named Cooper who has been a great addition to our family! I enjoy reading, running, playing volleyball, and most importantly spending time with my family and friends!
