Coaching Staff

Head Varsity
Jim McNamara-This will be Coach McNamara's eighth season as the varsity head coach.  He is looking forward to his 27th season coaching basketball in Pine Island, having coached at the youth, junior high and junior varsity level.  He also was the varsity assistant for seven years.  Career Varsity coaching record of 104-85, including the 2017  HVL Gold division title.  Married to Tonja for 37 years and they have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.


Varsity Assistant
Tyler Baker-A native of Byron, this will be Coach Bakers tenth year coaching basketball and his 5th at Pine Island. This is his first year as the Varsity Assistant, having been the JV coach previously.   He has also coached in Iowa, and at Bemidji and Goodhue.  He and his wife Brittany have three sons.


Junior Varsity
Ben Bauer-Graduated from Pine Island High School in 2014, where he participated in basketball, baseball and cross country.  He is a graduate of UW-Stout and taught at Triton last year, where he also coached basketball.  This is his first year teaching and coaching at Pine Island
 

C Team
Alex Robideau -Graduated from Northfield in 2011. He then went on to graduate from Minnesota State University Mankato. Worked as a paraprofessional in Nicollet, Minnesota. Coached junior varsity basketball and varsity baseball in Nicollet for two years. This will be his third year coaching the C Team in Pine Island. 


8th Grade
Michael Downie-Graduated from Lourdes High school in 1999 and played basketball for 8 years in their system.  This will be his third year coaching the 8th grade team in Pine Island.   He and his wife have 2 little boys and we have made our home in Pine Island for 8 years!  


7th Grade
Logan Andrist-2019 graduate of Pine Island High School, where he participated in basketball, football and track. He is a student at RCTC.  This will be Logan's second year coaching basketball at Pine Island.


7-8th Grade Assistant
Dylan Holzer-2020 graduate of Pine Island High School, where he participated in basketball, football and track.  He is a student at Winona State.  This will be his first year coaching basketball at Pine Island.
