STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS – January 22, 2021

Announcements for January 22:

* Congratulations to the PI/ZM gymnastics team on their season opening win over Byron, 137.3 - 134.8

Winning events for PI/ZM was Sawyer Gorman: Vault, Bars, Floor and All Around.

*Upcoming College Admission Representative Visits

It is never to early start the college search, selection, and application process. This year, in an effort to make campus-specific information more accessible to students and families, college admission representatives will be available to meet with Pine Island students and families via virtual high school visits. Virtual visits provide a great opportunity to learn more about the opportunities available at a specific college or university. In addition to a general campus overview, specific questions related to majors and programming, financial aid, and the application process are also welcome. To attend a “virtual high school visit” please click the appropriate zoom link on the designated meeting date and time. Zoom links can also be found in the Schoology Calendar.

*Note all visits will be conducted between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. unless stated otherwise.

Announcements for January 20:

PIVB - Volleyball Announcement -

Unfortunately, due to COVID and lack of any gym or practice space, we were not able to offer our athletes a RAGE JO season this year. Coach Barnett is working hard and is hopeful that some limited space will open by spring to be able to offer some open gym times. Thank you for your understanding during our “pause” for this season.

PIVB is wanting to invite any parents interested in possibly joining in on our monthly meetings to see what we are all about as we are looking for new members. We especially want to encourage youth parent involvement for the future of our program. Items we discuss or get involved in are fundraising, budgeting for various items such as uniforms/equipment, Rage season, summer volleyball and camps, banquet/awards, and in-season special player nights (parent night, senior night, dig pink night, etc.). Meetings are the 3rd Monday of every month starting at 6pm and are currently being held via Zoom. Please email PIVB President-Jay Bergner (jaybergner@gmail.com) or VP-Amy Yetzer (ayetzer@hotmail.com) with questions or to get an invitation for our next meeting on February 15th at 6pm.

School Day
In order to make transportation work with new restrictions, the 5-12 school day has been adjusted. Class starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:15pm. We also have to limit extra traffic in the building. To limit this traffic the doors will open at 8:30am and students will need to leave the building no later than 3:30pm. The doors will then remain locked for the evening. Students are not allowed in the building before 8:30am or after 3:30pm.

A/B Calendar
Attached is the
A/B Calendar which specifies A and B days for the entire year. Even if school is canceled for a day, the A/B calendar will stay the same for the entire year.

Masks

All students (grades K-12) and staff will be required to wear a mask (Executive Order 20-81).  The Pine Island District will supply one mask to each student enrolled in the Hybrid Model.

Learning At Home
Students will again have days they are learning from home whether on the A/B rotation, or if they are on the family flex plan. The school day will follow the same schedule for students both at home and at school. Classes will start at 8:45am and finish at 3:15pm. Students will be required to checkin and join classes during the school day. Each teacher will communicate with students how they will participate in each class from home. Attendance and participation is required.

Skyward

To check attendance and final course grades, you will need to know your Skyward login. Skyward will also be used to schedule conferences this year and view your student’s homeroom teacher and course schedule. You can find the link to Skyward at the bottom of the school district website.
